La couverture est l'impact d'un visage sur la glace du photocopieur, et donne une image juste du contenu sonore. Voix, instruments et autres bruits divers dans un gris mal défini, une ambiance inquiétante, où tout peut arriver. De la performance qu'on n'hésitera pas à relier à celles d'Antonin Artaud et Roger Blin dans les escaliers de L'ORTF en 1947, ou à toutes les productions du label Tochnit Aleph."

"To say there is a lot of information on the cover of Raionbashi's 'In Teufel's Küche'... well, no. I came across the name Raionbashi before, on two compilations, but I have no idea who or what it is. The label says 'All Voices, Noises, Instruments, Body-Functions & Apostrophes by DL' and that this is a follow up to 'Kollekte', a LP for Hanson Records in 2006. The music is great, yet hard to define. Is it musique concrete? Perhaps one could say it is. There is the use of piano sounds, various objects picked up with contact microphones and perhaps some voice material. But what Raionbashi does with this material is not drown it in electronic processing, but built in various layers of unprocessed nature. Lots of layers it seems, but with various moments of silence built in. I perhaps wrongly expected some noise, but this is far from it. This is some great obscured music (as opposed to obscure music), with some intense moments. Not easy listening, but one that grows every time you play it." (FdW)

On this beautifully produced ten-incher, Tochnit Aleph / Rumpsti Pumsti head honcho Daniel Lowenbrück is credited on "voices, noises, instruments, body-functions and apostrophes", and if you ever wondered what an apostrophe sounded like, now's your chance to find out. Don't be put off by those "body-functions" either; although Lowenbrück has often taken it to the stage with the likes of Dave Phillips, Joke Lanz and Rudolf Eb.er, whose performances you might think twice about taking your granny along to see, the sounds he comes up with on In Teufel's Küche are absolutely exquisitely worked and placed with extraordinary attention to detail (check out the tasty bottom octave piano reversed soundfiles). Though not a little disturbing in places – Dylan Nyoukis comes to mind – it's a real treat. Despite a very enjoyable weekend in Herr Lowenbrück's home base Berlin recently, my German still won't get me much further than ordering a beer and a sausage (which, after all, is quite useful in the German capital), but I think the title translates as "In The Devil's Kitchen", which also seems to be the name of a satanic board game (go Google). I guess that makes Lowenbrück, like Milton, a true Poet. Go on, be a devil. Indulge

REVUE ET CORRIGE
All voices, Noises Instruments & Body Functions by D.L. C'est à peu près les seuls renseignements qu'on peut lire sur ce disque. Une pochette en noir et blanc, l'image de couverture semblant être une face écrasée contre la vitre d'une photocopieuse. Rien d'autre de particulièrement évocateur. Derrière les initiales D.L se cache en réalité un dénommé Daniel Löwenbrück, revenu du No Fun fest 2007 avec tous les honneurs de la critique après sa performance avec la yodeleuse Doreen Kutzke. En marge de Raionbashi, D.L se trouve également à la tête de Tochnit Aleph, label radical spécialisé en poésie sonore et harsh noise, l'un des meilleurs du genre. In Teufel's Küche est une sorte de collage, un huis clos aux transitions imperceptibles, sorti de l'antre caverneuse d'un maniaque. D.L affectionne les gargarismes, les rebus de sons en tout genre, les grincements, les souffles de machines et les cris stridents. Sans début ni fin ni véritable progression, Raionbashi produit une forme d'errance concrète au coeur de créatures difformes.La seule trace instrumentale reconnaissable demeure celle d'un piano (?), martelant inlassablement le même accord tout le long de la deuxième face, alors que râlent au loin une ombre et des machines (D.L.? Henri Chopin ? John Merrick ?) Une atmosphère étrange règne sur ce disque et même si on ne peut s'empêcher de le replacer dans une tradition du film pour l'oreille, in Teufel's Küche parvient à éviter un nombre impressionnant de sentiers battus et reste assez incernable, sans jouer à l'être. Les performances de Raionbashi reposent sur des contrastes qui mettent en place des narrations absurdes et énigmatiques, des situations d'attente dans des environnements sonores complètement hostiles mais prémédités avec soin. Coproduction du label grec Absurd et du new yorkais Ignivomous, In Teufel's Küche est précieux : D.L produit peu.
